This is the second book in the Trilogy of the Bear and The Nightingale and both are excellent forms of fantasy mixed with Fairy Tales. Set in 14th century Russia (Rus).

Although I loved the first book in the series more - The Girl in the Tower is still a wonderful epic tale. Vasia is true to form - brave, reckless, sad, misunderstood. The story starts slowly at first, but it builds and gets going so that putting it down is impossible. So much happens in this one story - I cannot wait to get more.
