25 stars out of 5 for this audio production. I encourage everyone far and wide to listen to the audiobook, even those that have already read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, like I have. I am deeply saddened, once again, to see my time in Guernsey has come to another end. What a wonderful and lovely gem of a story - and I cannot say enough about the excellent audio production! Beautiful book, delicate, sweet and funny. A few times I had fun and got emotional at the same time as with this book and its unpredictable characters. Juliett and Isola will remain for long time in my memory, as well as Elisabeth, the great absent. Now I'd really like to visit this island of Guernsey, which ignored the existence ....

3.5 stars. This was my second time reading this book as my book club picked it for this month. It was a 3.5 star rating for me nine years ago and it is the same today.
I liked learning/remembering little tidbits of the German occupation of the island of Guernsey during World War II and I think I would love to visit there some day but the story was just okay for me. I don’t care for the format of the whole book being told through letters. It felt flat.

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows is quite the "lovely" read. It really is. It's the kind of book that I would have been excited to share with my grandmother, if she were still living.
It's also a book that I often found myself picking up and then almost immediately re-shelving.
Why?
