A wonderful story. Many times reading historical novels I am reminded that my knowledge of history is deficient. Why isn't it more well known that Germany occupied a part of England during World War II? (Just as I think most people think Pearl Harbor was the only attack on US soil. It wasn't, there were battles on the Aleutians. But I digress.) At first, I thought this was going to be all too similar to 84 Charing Cross Road which I read only a couple of months ago, but I soon learned Guernsey g

Thoroughly enjoyed this book even though the first 10 pages threw me off a little bit. This is due to the format of the writing; it's a book of correspondences (letters) between Juliet Ashton and others. However, as soon as I got the characters straight, it was soo easy and pleasant to read.

I loved this book! I loved how it was written, I loved the characters and I loved the letters. I think the author did an amazing job pulling you into the story and into the lives of all the characters. By the end of the book I felt like they were all my old friends. I also loved how she made the book about the Holocaust but in a very subtle and behind the scenes kind of way. It was beautiful and heart wrenching. I highly recommend this book!

I have not started it as yet. I had a hard time finishing it. I think this book was slow unlike the Soldier's Wife. I also think it had too many characters which made it hard to keep up.
