This one was a little twisted and weird in its story content, and long, but that audio narration!! Oh boy this time Robert Glenister performed his narration! Fantastic audio performance! It was indeed longer and perhaps more drawn out than it needed to be - Strike solved the mystery and there were a full 2 CDs left to go- but Glenister's performance helped to make it feel like this one zipped by much like Cuckoo's Calling. I enjoyed this one even more than the first installment. It's darker, grotesque even, and veers into meta territory in its take on the publishing industry. Similar to Magpie Murders (in content if not in tone), there's a dead author who, it turns out, wasn't such a great guy, and whose latest unpublished manuscript provides clues to his death.
