We all loved this book, the lovely writing, and the issues raised. We discussed how much we can criticize people for being products of their time and culture, and how admirable people who can rise above their upbringing truly are.
Such a great book! I had no idea that the anti slavery movement in U.S. was mixed with the beginning of the feminist movement, and there are also many things more I learned about that period. I liked the characters and knowing there were based on real people made the book better for me.
