Review to come. Currently in broken-sobbing-and-eating-everything-in-the-pantry stage.
Whatt?! my review deleted. Damn you.
Updated review: I'm writing this while my boyfriend is talking to his doctor. He has cancer himself and when a doctor wants to talk to you, you know something terrible is about to be revealed. This crazy, nervous, terrible feeling in the pit of my stomach won't cease, so I figured writing a review might distract me a bit. For obvious reasons, this book deeply touched me while ...more

"Neither novels nor their readers benefit from attempts to divine whether any facts hide inside a story. Such efforts attack the very idea that made-up stories can matter, which is sort of the foundational assumption of our species "

I really enjoyed this book. I found out about this book last year. I didn't know much about it. I loved how the book was about two teenagers going through the same diagnosis of cancer and how they lived for today and fell in love. I really felt they loved each other. I thought it was sweet of Augustus to use his wish to take Hazel to Amsterdam to meet the author of their favorite book. What I didn't like was the author of the book they were reading. He is a jerk. He didn't want to answer their q

what a great book. this is the sort of book that i wish more teen readers - i'd say it's good for sort of 14/15ish and up, there's a (view spoiler) so...that's to be a consideration - (and adults who prefer YA) would pick-up and read...rather than so much of that other stuff passing for literature in the YA segment of the market. this book elevates the genre.

This book doesn't really need any extra publicity. It's one of the most loved books from last year and after finishing it, I could see why. I didn't love it as much, but I definitely would highly recommend this book for this reason - despite being about cancer, there is so much strength, humor, power of the human spirit and most importantly, genuine people in this book. Cancer is no stranger in my family and it's still not a word we would utter carelessly or unfeelingly around here. I don't know

I rate this as a two star thing - not because I like it - but because I think it's okay for what it is: a young adult novel where the teens don't actually respond like teenagers, but respond the way teenagers wish they could. It's overly dramatic about the subject matter and is - in pretty much every way - not great literature. But...it's young adult, and if I were 12 or 13 again, I'd probably think it was the bee's knees. As a not-young-adult, though, meh. If you're a parent looking to read wha

I couldn't put this book down and finished it in 4 days. I had an idea of how it would end, but still very sad.
