I absolutely love a good book. And Rick Riordan has gone way over my standards. He brings out the voice perfectly for a middle school aged boy. If you like the gods this is definitely the book to read ( after you read the first one otherwise it is confusing).
If you read the first book, The Lightning Thief, you know that Percy Jackson, a now 13 year old dark-haired blue-eyed boy, is a Demigod, or Half-blood. He went with Annabeth Chase, Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan

I absolutely love a good book. And Rick Riordan has gone way over my standards. He brings out the voice perfectly for a middle school aged boy. If you like the gods this is definitely the book to read ( after you read the first one otherwise it is confusing).
If you read the first book, The Lightning Thief, you know that Percy Jackson, a now 13 year old dark-haired blue-eyed boy, is a Demigod, or Half-blood. He went with Annabeth Chase, a blond haired, gray-eyed girl, who is also a Demigod and Grover Underwood, a satyr, to retrieve Zeus' master bolt from Hades to clear Percy's name. In Sea of Monsters Grover gets kidnapped and Percy has to save him.
Percy is a Demigod (as stated above), which means he is Dyslexic and he has ADHD, like all Demigods . Percy's father is Poseidon, God of the seas. This means he has control over water, to some extent. Annabeth's Mother is Athena, Goddess of Wisdom and Battle Strategy. This means she rarely, if not ever, loses. Grover is a Junior Satyr, which means he doesn't have his Searchers License yet. He is also Percy's protector. From the waist up he is human, but from the waist down he is a goat. He also has to wear fake feet.
The voice Rick Riordan gives Percy reminds me of myself now. He always talks like a smart-alack. Annabeth is the do-gooder voice. She always sound serious. And Grover always sounds scared, unless it is enchilada day at the school cafeteria, or he is hungry. Then he just moans. My favorite character is Percy, hands-down. We have so much in common.
I choose this book because of the Greek mythology. I absolutely love Greek mythology. The other reason is, the title character's father is my favorite god, Poseidon. Though you may wish to read the perfect beginning of the series to understand this book. The book was so well written a cave man
could read it. There are a couple spots where you could get lost easily, because the story goes off track. I would recommend this because it is descriptive enough it paints a perfect picture in ones mind. This story also has a shocking insight of Percy's family, and and even more shocking end. ...more
