It's been several days since I finished this book and I'm still savoring it. What could easily be a tawdry soap opera (and still could be, because there's no doubt someone will make a movie out of this book) instead becomes an intense look at what we think we know, the truth, and what happens when those two things don't match up. I could not put this down. I think it helped that my co-worker said he hated the book because the secret was SO awful so I was really expecting the worst possible secret... Then when the terrible secret did come out it didn't seem QUITE as bad. Really good read, IMO.
