I started this book a year ago. I kept reading and reading taking big breaks between reads, yet every time I returned to it I knew exactly where I left and what was going on. Then on train ride at night I decided to see what else was happening to my Golem and Jinni. And I couldn't stop reading.

It's a lovely enchanting read. It feels like a fairy tale in an old New York. The characters are complex and difficult. Everything had a connection and it was a pleasure to see all come together in the end ...more

What were to happen if two myths from two cultures came together in a big city, say New York, and somehow met each other. Well, you get this book and it's a good one.

I've always loved the mystery that's behind the Middle East, in this case Syria. That culture is so different from my own. I thought it was great fun to be able to explore this culture a little bit in turn of the century New York through the eyes of two supernatural creatures: a jinni and a golem.

Absolutely enjoyed this magical tale of golem and jinni that was allegorical of any human religions or humans of different belief systems coming together. Great depth of characters, great sense of history and the immigrant experience.
