What Members Thought
This is one of those titles I have been promising myself to read for some time. I have been a fan of Neil Gaiman's ever since I stumbled across Neverwhere however for some reason this title has always eluded me. Strange considering I have seen the film (which is references in the new introduction to this book) several times but not the book.

Good and not nearly as horrific as I feared.
2023 reread:
This time I was really creeped out and worried for Coraline. I guess expectations matter -- I remembered it wasn't as bad so I let my defenses down.
I really liked the final problem, with the tea party. I like how Coraline talks to herself for morale. I liked the tone in which the narration turns to the reader. ...more

This is the story of Coraline, yeah not Caroline but Coraline :)
She moves with her parents to a new house that is divided to four apartments. She loves to explore, so one day she finds a door in their house that opens to a brick wall.. on the other side is the empty apartment that is not rented yet.. When she comes to explore a second time.. she finds the door having no bricks anymore instaed it leads to the other apartment so she goes it to discover a whole new world.
Then her parents go missing ...more

I really wanted to like this book but it never really grabbed me. It was okay, a nice little read but I was disappointed overall. I liked the concept of the book - the idea of it. But, it just didn't pull me in like I'd hoped. I suspect I might have enjoyed it more when I was younger - maybe that was what made it difficult for me. Being an adult. I felt the characters were a bit under written - and the story didn't go as far as I'd hoped. There were a lot of unanswered questions for me which det
