I really enjoyed Gillian Flynn's Dark Places, though not quite as much as I did her Gone Girl. Dark Places was equally interesting and almost impossible to put down, and is one of the few books I've read recently that has caused me to stay up way later than I intended because "I just have to figure out where they're going with that." I must say that I enjoy Ms. Flynn's style of writing. I enjoy being taken from the present to the past to figure out the mystery.
While this tale was not quite as exciting as Gone Girl, it still held my interest and kept me guessing until the very end. If you like a mystery that keeps you saying, "Oh, he did it!" then "No she did it" you will enjoy Dark Places. ...more

somewhere between a 4 and 4.5. i didn't know the end until the end. i had suspicions, but the 'whodunnit' part kept me guessing and interested the entire book. i don't know if all moms can relate to patty, the mom, but in some ways, i could. it was interesting to see the development of libby as a character, as well. all in all, i really enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading sharp objects soon, too :)
