First book finish for 2018, and it was pretty good! It started out a little slow, and I was a bit confused by the writing style. I mistakenly thought that it would be about friends who reconnected one day a year, but actually they interacted all year long and the reader is simply given a snap-shot of one day, a specific date of significance, each year. I enjoyed the character growth and development, and I thought the dialogue was clever and funny, especially Emma’s sarcastic comments. I didn’t e ...more

When I picked up this book I was expecting a fairly light romance with shades of Same Time Next Year and When Harry Met Sally. I was not expecting to be blown away by a story that I think will be one of the ones I remember for a very long time. (I'll have to check back in a year and see if I still feel the same.)

Wow... I don't think I've read a book that I hated so much. But at the same time, I don't think I've ever read I loved quite this much. By the time I finished the book, I think I had felt every emotion possible. From almost the first page, I was hooked. I fell in love with Emma and Dexter. I fell in love with their relationship. By all means, they should have never even been friends. Two completely opposite people. Dexter Mayhew, who is a spoiled, say anything to get into your pants, rich boy. W ...more

I liked how this couple's story bounces back and forth in time. It reminds me of the old sitcoms where you waited and waited for them to get together, and the audience knows more than the characters. The only thing is, I didn't particularly like Dexter. Perhaps we weren't supposed to, necessarily, but I just wanted to slap him sometimes. Still, it was a cute, quick read. I did, however, have a problem with chapter 18 on. It was unexpected, and not what I was looking for in this book. I can't say ...more
