I breezed through this one (pun absolutely intended!).
It was fun, creepy, kinda hot in places, and thoroughly absorbing.
For me, well-written dialogue is one of the most important aspects of a book and Caine does not disappoint. There's a lot of snappy, sarcastic banter and it definitely works.
The characters, too, are compelling and believable. Joanna, our
protagonist, is smart, vulnerable, powerful (she can make a life-threatening hurricane go bye-bye, folks!) and funny as hell. The villains aren ...more

Joanne Baldwin is a Weather Warden, a person with power over wind and water who uses her powers to protect humanity from dangerous weather conditions. However, after killing her boss in self defense, she finds herself on the run, wanted for murder, and suffering from an evil force eating away at her. She decides that there is only one person who can help her and she sets off to find him and hope he is willing to help. This was a fun beginning to a paranormal/urban fantasy series. The weather war

Some parts of this were okay, and there were even some small bits I liked. It was definitely different than anything I've read before. But near the end, she's fighting a storm or something, and it goes on and on, and my eyes started to glaze over, and it was so dang boring. A book needs to build excitement near the end, not whatever this book was trying to do. The thing is, I have some of the other books in the series that I picked up from a library sale. So I don't know if I want to read on or

The Wardens can control forces and try to keep the Earth in balance and from destroying humans. Joanne Baldwin is a weather Baldwin. Her boss performs a horrible at on her and he's killed. Joanne is now headed to Oklahoma to the strongest known warden and the only person who might be able to help her. This was an interesting change of pace for a fantasy novel with its focus on weather and having djinn as magical creatures. The ending was interesting and left me wanting to know what happens next

I rather enjoyed the book however I was totally lost at times too. The main character is a weather warden on the run. Pretty much that is all she does is run. She has been accused of a murder and has been marked by a demon. So she sets out to find the person who can help her and falls in love with a djin on the way.
