This story deals with the differences in social classes between lady and hand maid, gentleman and coachman during the turn of the century life style of New York. It focuses on the well-to-do family of the Holland girls and the supposed lives they live. The younger Holland girl, Diana, is naturally a rule breaker and is always saying and doing what

It's 1899 in Manhattan, Elizabeth and Diana Holland are sisters, but it seems like they are a world apart. Penelope is Liz's best friend, but she's more of the "keep your enemies closer type."
While Liz has been off in Paris for the summer, after the death of her father, Penelope has been making moves on Henry Schoonmaker, the total stud who's left a trail of broken hearts in his path! You don't say!!

3.5 stars. Imagine Gossip Girl set in 1899. In a world where appearances are everything and reputations are generations old, Elizabeth and Diana Holland are trying to love and survive. Beware of best friends who wish you ill and men who are only true to their own selfish desires.

With-reservations:
infidelity, underage sex, drinking and betrayal ...more
