Fallen is the first YA novel I've read since reading Twilight, and since I didn't enjoy that one, I didn't have high hopes for Fallen either. But it seemed like everyone was reading it and giving it rave reviews. So I decided I'd give it a try.

In Lauren Kates Buch "Fallen" lernen wir Lucinda und Daniel näher kennen. Mir gefiel die Story, ein gefallener Engel, der verliebt ist und dazu verdammt ist sich auf alle Ewigkeit immer und immer wieder in Luce zu verlieben. Daniel ist sehr kühl zu Luce und diese beginnt schon zu denken, dass er sie hasst und versucht ihm fernzubleiben, als er ihr endlich seine Aufmerksamkeit schenkt und versucht ihr seine Liebe zu gestehen.

Mir fehlen allerdings ein bisschen die Hintergründe in diesem Buch, man In Lauren Kates Buch "Fallen" lernen wir Lucinda und Daniel näher kennen. Mir fehlen allerdings ein bisschen die Hintergründe in diesem Buch, man erfährt schon relativ bald, dass Daniel und Luce ineinander verliebt sind und sich offenbar aus früheren Leben kennen, aber man erfährt nicht, wo sie sich zuerst getroffen haben, wie sie sich verliebt haben und was schließlich dazu geführt hat, dass sie sich in jedem Leben erneut treffen und ineinander verlieben und warum Luce jedes mal stirbt, sobald Daniel versucht sie in ihre Geschichte einzuweihen.

Man trifft auch mehrere andere Personen, wie Arianne, Gabbe, Roland und Molly, die offenbar auch Engel sind, aber man erfährt auch hier nicht wirklich viel über die Hintergründe. Es sind mehrere Gruppen von Personen hinter Luce her, allerdings weiß man auch nicht, warum dies genau der Fall ist und was passieren wird mit der Welt, wenn tatsächlich eine dieser Gruppen Luce in die Finger bekommen wird.

Ebenfalls ein faszinierender Charakter ist meiner Meinung nach Cam, ebenfalls ein Engel, von dem nicht ganz klar ist, auf welcher Seite er eigentlich steht, und der von Beginn an versucht Luce ganz für sich zu gewinnen. Man kann also gespannt sein...

Das Buch war angenehm und schnell zu lesen, meine offenen Fragen hat es allerdings nicht beantwortet. Ich hoffe doch sehr stark, dass diese im Sequel "Torment" beantwortet werden, da es allerdings auch noch ein drittes Buch namens "Passion" geben wird, ist es gut möglich, dass ich auch nach der Lektüre von "Torment" nicht schlauer bin. Ich vergebe dennoch 5 Sterne, da die Idee mal etwas andres war, als ich bisher gelesen habe und ich hoffe, dass meine Fragen in Zukunft beantwortet werden. ...more

Oh my goodness, how I despise "instalove". I do not believe in Love at First Sight so it makes it hard to read. This book had so much promise... so much possibility. But really, as an author, you show your lack of creativity, or maybe it is laziness, when you are unable to have a girl fall in love with a boy in a way other than "instalove".

What did Daniel ever do to make Luce fall so in love with him? He flipped her off, spoke to her condescendingly, treated her like crap... What did Daniel ever do to make Luce fall so in love with him? He flipped her off, spoke to her condescendingly, treated her like crap... And yet she kept coming back for more. This is what we call an abusive relationship. Sure, he never hit her... but he was more than a tad bit emotionally abusive. And a girl is just weak if she falls for that sort of thing. Makes it hard to be supportive of the leading lady when she is an idiot.

Which brings me to my next point of contention. Lauren Kate tried way too hard to make up for the fact that Luce is an idiot. If you have read this book, you may recall Luce's speech about the full ride she got at one of the top college prep schools, and her 4.0 grade point average at said school, and winning the science fair 3 years in a row... she might be book smart (though that still seems entirely debatable) but she is an idiot. She whines too much and she has no real redeeming qualities. She obsessively stalks a guy who told her to back away... I hate, hate, HATE stories that go along these line.

I love stories about boarding schools. There is just so much possibility when you remove the parental aspect of things. And then you throw in fallen angels... SO MUCH POTENTIAL. How I wish that someone else had written this series because maybe then it would have lived up to its potential. There was no real plot in the book. The prologue gave away everything (it might have been better to have left off the prologue and then you would have discovered things as the story went along). I was still left with questions so I might read the next book. I listen to audiobooks while I work so if I run out of books to listen to, the sequel might be a book I read, but I am definitely not rushing out to pick it up and read it. ...more

What I love about this series are the covers. They are just drop dread gorgeous! Very attractive to the eyes.

Due to its popularity, it's pretty easy to find out that it's paranormal YA involving angels. I have this thing about angels that they are just consecrated topic for me however again as I usually say, I read pretty much everything, I needed to just jump ship for this one. And I really have tried - I listened to the whole audiobook, beginning to end but folks, this one was disappointing.

Wow. Fallen angels with smoldering good looks that are bent on seducing a mortal woman while waging a war of epic proportion...hell yeah! Oh...a review...uhm...smokin' hot fallen angels?
