I have started a lot of new series lately, but this one would have to be up there as one of my favourites. I will admit, I did have to work hard throughout the book to fully understand the world and the rules which applied within it, but Kate was just such a brilliant heroine that it was definitely worth the effort. I really liked the fact that this was clearly an adult series. There was swearing, but not too much - just enough to have an impact (and cause a laugh). There was definitely the buil

I've been meaning to start this series for a long time, and I'm glad that I finally did. I really enjoyed this book and the world that these authors created. I especially liked the different characteristics of the various creatures that are represented. These aren't the standard shifters and vampires that we're used to seeing! They had a unique take on the vampires in particular that was awesome and definitely creepy as hell.

I do believe this is going to be my next favorite urban fantasy/occult detective series.

The book reads as if you've been dropped in the middle of a series. This is only my second urban fantasy, so perhaps they are assuming a knowledge of the genre? This book was ok - I had a hard time getting into the characters and it seemed really complex...I listened to it on audio so not being able to go back might have added to the complexity. The ending was very abrupt - like it was written as one big book and the publishers said ok we reached this page number let's put the rest in the second book or something.

Kate Daniels is a mercenary living near Atlanta in a world where magic comes in waves and it has destroyed many buildings. Kate's guardian is murdered and she is hired by the Order to help find his killer. This leads her into the realm of both vampires and shapeshifters. I liked Kate, though she is one of many literary tough, wise mouth heroines. It took me awhile to figure out what was going on and for the story to get moving. I'd like to find out what Kate's story is and what she is so I'll li

Was listening to the audiobook (audible version), but the readers voice was too hard for me to follow for the whole book. What I "read" was interesting, though, so maybe someday I'll get the non-audio version someday and finish it.
