[close] We, the moderators, decided membership should have it's privileges. We noticed that a very active member of the group said they'd only ever had one book they voted for win at the polls. Well, we decided to rectify that. We will occasionally allow members (we haven't decided exactly how often) to take over a BOM choice. For our first official takeover we picked Sans. She has the highest number of comments outside of moderators. We asked which BOM she'd like to take over and this is the one she picked. So our May BOM for the Paranormal/Urban Fantasy category is Magic Bites.

So last year we decided that this year we would read this series, I have already read this book but it’s been a few years so I knew I would need to reread it and refresh my memory. I was surprised at home much of it I remember though I couldn’t remember how it ended.

3.5 stars. Kate Daniels is like a female Harry Dresden with slightly better luck. Series has great potential and I look forward to listening to the next book.

This book was ok - I had a hard time getting into the characters and it seemed really complex...I listened to it on audio so not being able to go back might have added to the complexity. The ending was very abrupt - like it was written as one big book and the publishers said ok we reached this page number let's put the rest in the second book or something. ...more

I love the world building in this series so far. It's even better that the vamps aren't sexy and all-powerful like they are in practically every other series. Not that I don't like a good, hot vamp story because I do. But it's always nice to see things with a different tilt.

As far as Kate goes, I was kind of on the fence about her for most of the book. She's a little cocky, a loner, and a bit rude at times. But, on the other hand, when you do what she does for a living, you probably have to be ...more
