I remember listening to this book back when it first  came out which was a few years back and I enjoyed it, but I had really forgotten a lot of it. Then I watched the TV show and a new obsession began and I wanted to read it again! So I dragged my buddy reader along with me...lol. So check out Barbs review once you look at mine. :)

Discovery of Witches is a book set in modern days where there are not only humans but creatures. Their are Vampires, Witches and Daemons and Diana is a witch but she d

The complexity of the world and beautiful, rich writing give this 5 star appeal, but the plot lost major momentum in the last third of the book and I nearly didn't finish it. Glad I did, and am looking forward to the next book. ...more

This rating is really a 4.5 star rating, and I really wanted to go five, but the ending just bugged me! I am really glad that I waited to read this one until the second book was out because I hate cliffhanger endings!

Diana Bishop is a witch who won't use her powers. Instead she is a professor specializing in the history of alchemy. Then one day Diana recalls a magical alchemical manuscript and attracts the attention of other witches, daemons and vampires, espcially the vampire Matthew Calirmont. I enjoyed the book and with a big cliffhanger at the end I can't wait to read the next in the trilogy. My main problem is how fast the main characters fall in love, I've known you ten days but now I'll sacrifice my l ...more

I really liked this book, but I didn't realize it was a trilogy..now I can't wait for the next book! UGH. Books like this are why I like to read the series after it's completed - I want to read them all back to back. I didn't want this book to end.

If you enjoyed Twilight you will probably enjoy this book!

I was dismayed there was no ending. This really is the first third of the story. Standing alone it feels incomplete.
I got very involved with the characters. I need to see how it progresses.

I thought it was a little bit sappy. And found parts of it to be very boring. It was fine, seems like lots of people really like it. Just not quite right for me.
