4.5 stars. Long book, but easy, interesting read. Explores a world where witches, vampires and daemons walk mostly unnoticed among humans. A sweet and funny story of a romance between an ancient French vampire and a stubborn American witch.

I liked listening to this tale with a different look at witches, vampires and demons. This is a re-listen and 8 years can delete a lot of memory of a storyline in some cases. This is one of those. The first book of 2021 that I found enjoyable. It took me a bit to get into it but once Diana and Matthew go to New York I found the tale a complete delight. We (my husband and I) also thoroughly enjoyed watching the show on TV. I think I really need fantasy or mystery to handle this pandemic. This was great fun.

Having said that, it was still a pretty fantastic story. It reminded me quite a bit of Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander" series in its details, introductions of characters, and plot twists, and then of course there is the insanely intense love story similarities. At the same time, this book will definitle appeal to Twilight fans, but with a ...more
