Sadly, I didn't enjoy this book much. The pacing was slow, the characters were not developed enough to be memorable. I found myself bored and indifferent to the story. ...more

This took me way longer to read than it should have. When I started it, I was so confused by all the characters - they kept getting all jumbled up and I was having a hard time keeping track of the relationships amongst them. I finished another book after putting this one down for a while. However, when I came back to it, I did get swept up in the mystery of what happened to Gabby all those years ago and, more recently, what happened to Bronte. Between this and Exiles, it seems that babies are Harper's new favorite prop. I know, I know the baby is part of our protagonist Kieran Elliott's new life and choosing surviving over guilt. But still.

Kieran is still struggling with the guilt of his beloved older brother's death in a terrible storm.
