A couple of years ago, Spanish TV made a series with the same name and premise as The Ministry of Time. When I saw the book and people enjoying the book, I decided to pick it up through BOTM.
I finished the book even though I didn't connect with the characters, I like that the author decided to have a diverse cast of people. Yes, I enjoy books with time travel but The Ministry of Time didn't gravitate me as the other novels I read.

Very interesting look at colonialism and nationalism and assimilation through an amoral ministry that experiments with a found Time Machine by kidnapping past people and pairing them with a “bridge” to help them adjust. Our narrator, one such bridge, is an equally amoral young professional who is here for the money and security but also notices that her charge is kinda hot. Did I say professional? That’s her class, not her actions.

Simultaneously surprising, fun, poignant, irreverent. The perfect example of a familiar yet original time travel story. Would recommend to nearly anyone.

I still really enjoyed the banter between Gore and the narrator but it feels like that's the only good thing I can say about the book. I don't feel like I ever get to know the characters deeper, nor the narrator's relationships with them. There was a lot of confusion, early on, about who has a crush on whom, it was like Gore liked Margaret, Margaret liked the narrator, the narrator liked Gore, Arthur liked Gore... such a mess.
