Interesting, imaginative, intricate, & yet I was never completely engaged by the mystery, the fantasy or the characters. Big, bold & often beautiful, it was also long & tedious at times - too much wandering the library not finding anything, perhaps. The final 20 chapters picked up the pace but the preceding 50 meandered, a very slow build, indeed. I'm as sad as anyone that this book didn't work for me. I LOVE the idea of a magical, mysterious library, but unfortunately the execution in this book just didn't quite come together.
