Thank you to Alix E. Harrow, Macmillan Audio, and Netgalley for this advanced reader copy of "Starling House" for an honest review.

I love, love, love everything that Harrow has written and produce, so I had to jump on this story the moment it popped up in Netgalley. It was just as new, fresh, and brilliant as everything I've come to expect of her writing, no matter the genre she'd thrown her hat into with her pieces. Shelves: horror, arcs, reviewed, loved-it, awesome-audiobooks, favorites, bookclub

So I had high expectations for this book because a. I love the author and everything she writes, and b. Because it was a haunted house book!! One of my favorite types of settings, but of course, as usual, Harrow tells it in her own unique way and layers in thoughts on poverty, belonging, destiny/responsibility and power. Even when she does a retelling, she does it in a way that feels fresh and new and this book was no exception. It will make you laugh and feel things 🥹🥲 Easy 5 🌟 from me!
