Small town secrets on a small island off Washington state. I loved the romantic lure of the island being a little magical, a little full of original family power. It was interesting how it painted both the friendship between Lily and Emery and the love between Emery and August.

I also found the small town secrets interesting. I was pulled along as Emery tried to untangle the night her best friend died under strange circumstances and who all was lying now 14 years later.

I loved the atmosphere but felt like it dragged. And I wanted a stronger mystery and more magic.

Was not what I thought would happen for sure. I liked that there was a bit of magic mixed into the story rather than that being the main focus that was driving the mystery.

I loved this. The only thing I could wish for is that there had been a little more magic to it, but the atmosphere was very mystical and there was just a little bit of fantasy here. This author is one that I will always read whatever she writes.
