I enjoyed reading from a food taster instead of reading fantasies from princess, prince, king or queen so this was different.
Yelena jailed for killing a General's son. After 1 year she's given the choice to be the Commander's food taster.
With people in the castle not liking she's alive and friends of the General she's always watching her back.
Valek the Commander's friend that keeps Yelena in her place. He has more to himself. He can fight and can feel when magic is around him. Magic his banned.

Writing is a little too easy but I like the plot a lot. Well done.
