Seems I'm on a YA kick - fun stuff!

I really enjoyed this one - the only reason I picked 4 verses 5 stars was the ending. Endings are so hard to get right and I must admit I want a DNA test (for those who read the book, you know what I mean ;) so I was disappointed over the twist at the end - not the writing, which was excellent, but the plot/character ending.

Characters were likable, realistic and I found myself thinking about them when I wasn't reading the book - a good sign :)

2 ½-3 stars – Paranormal/Fantasy/Young Adult

This is one of the rare times that I actually liked the movie a lot more than the book. Perhaps I would’ve enjoyed the story more had I read it before seeing the film. But alas, it was disappointing and boring after experiencing City of Bones on the big screen.

I finished the reread of this book and ended up giving this book 5 stars this time reading it. I loved it so much more this time around. Claret gets a lot of hate and I actually like her character so much. She's kind of a badass in my opinion. I can't wait to start the next book.

This was the first Cassandra Clare book I have e

Merely meh. While the story itself isn't bad - teen girl in New York discovers mysterious world of demon-killing Shadowhunters and then, surprise!, it turns out she's one of them - there really isn't much that's new. I saw the parallels to Harry Potter and Star Wars with a little Twilight thrown in for good measure, but it wasn't until I read some other reviews and found out Cassandra Clare was originally a Potter fan-fiction writer that the penny really dropped. I think if you've never read any ...more
