What Members Thought
A nice pleasant read. Not the best YA fantasy I've ever read, but not the worst either. However, it is thinly veiled Harry Potter. Not that I don't like Harry, I do. But the author should've tried harder at disguising it and not use all the tropes from Harry. The bad guy is Voldemort, the hatred of half-breeds, etc, got a little old.

I guess it's hard to say I didn't like it, per se, just that it was so reminiscent of Harry Potter that I couldn't continue reading it. I was very active in Harry Potter fandom, and as the story progressed, the amount of the things that struck me as OMG Harry Potter became so large that I figured I could just as easily read some good fanfic, since it had gotten to the point where the characters I was imagining were essentially HP characters. I like the story, I hate the characters... or the main characters. The minute a character became "main", he/she became uninteresting egocentric intolerable a-hole.
