I really struggled with rating this one. It’s probably more of a 3 and a half star read for me. I loved the novel IN THEORY … the concepts, the themes, the world built, etc. but I felt the execution was less successful for me. I almost put it down numerous times. I never truly connected with any of the characters and the story never really came together fully for me. I thought this book was very well-written, well-researched, well-told. It is so fascinating, but also painful, to see the progression of how things got as bad as they did. This book hits really close to home because, let’s be real, it has happened in real life. It could still happen.
