I get what King is trying to do with this book, having the JFK assassination as goal for the main character to achieve, but its more about the main character's relationship with the other characters. I felt that was unneeded, so it would have been much better if the book was a normal novel at 300 to 400 pages, or a novella or novelette or even better a short story. Why does all his books now have to be a monster 700 pages+ novels in same way that feels like its dragging on forever, never ending?

I remember the days when King could write a good book with a minimum of words. Seems nowadays it's a requirement to pad as much as possible. This one could be cut by hundreds of pages and not lose the edginess or suspense.
