I love a time traveling story that's not so science fiction.
Jake travels back in time to help a student of his. Then travels back to save JFK as dying wish from a man he barely knows. But Jake's life in the past is flipped numerous of times.

Enjoyed a lot.

"The Past is obdurate. It doesn't want to be changed."

What an amazing story. The ultimate question - what would have happened if JFK had not been assassinated. It's mind bending to even wonder all the differences. But even more fascinating is the time in which it was and how it was so different to now.

The book was all consuming, one that I enjoyed both via audio book (which I recommend, although 30 discs is a bit daunting) and also through the hard copy. It's a long story but one well worth ever

What would happen to the world if JFK hadn't been assassinated? This was a question which Jake Epping was asked to face seriously when his friend Al admitted that he had discovered a way to step back in time, back to 1958. Al, dying of lung cancer, tasked Jake with going back and trying to stop Lee Harvey Oswald but it was no simple task. As Jake observed on multiple occasions, the past is obdurate. It doesn't want to be changed. Spending 5 years in the past preparing to stop that momentous even ...more

Jake Epping is told by his friend Al Templeton about a hole to the past that exists in Al's restaurant. Specifically the hole always leads to a date in 1958 and every time Al uses it he's only gone from the present for 2 minutes. Al's dying and he wants Jake to use the hole to go back in the past and prevent JFK's assassination on 11/22/63. This book is more a love story combined with time travel with really no horror in it. I loved the story of Jake and Sadie and the ending was terrific. Readin ...more

The first half of this book was fabulous. I really enjoyed it -had not read Stephen King before and though he was a really good author. The second half of the book was good but I found myself skipping a lot as it got kind of repetitive during some of the struggles. Overall - I did really like the book.
