Very rarely a book comes out that steals my breath away. The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak is a revelation. Narrated by Death, this story follows Leisel as she steals books in Nazi Germany while she and her best friend Rudy discover the power of words, language and friendship. Zusak's writing is mesmerizing; it's sarcastic, emotional, sophisticated and wondrous.

This must be one of the best audiobooks I have listened to. The narrator was excellent. The story was compelling. I laughed. I cried. The final chapters were intense. Even knowing what is going to happen, I still found myself wanting to weep...not a good idea while driving! Although this is a teen book, I highly recommend it to adults as well.

It was my second time through this book and and I still cried like crazy toward the end. Narrated by Death, it is the story of Liesel Meminger, who is living with foster parents in a suburb outside Munich during World War II. The book focuses on Liesel as she falls in love with reading and the power of words. It also shows her friendship with Rudy Steiner, the boy next door. I don't want to give anything away but this is a book well worth reading. It is most of all a story about humanity at both
