“I am interested in justice, not the law. There is an unfortunate difference.”

This is a fun, unique story about a band of women, now in their sixties, finally retiring from their life as assassins. That's right, they worked for an organization that targeted bad people and put out the hit on them. They scooped each of these women up when they were young, taugth them well, and then turned them out in to the world. Only now they are attempting to retire, someone doesn't want to quite let them go ye

I love the premise but the tale didn't quite rise to the occasion. It is easy to read & fairly entertaining but it just didn't pull me in, I suppose I was misled by some of the hype. It is good but it should be fabulous.

Billie, Mary Alice, Helen and Natalie are assassins who have reached retirement age. They have worked for The Museum, a secret, independent organization, killing targeted people such as war lords and traffickers. The Museum sends the four on a luxury retirement cruise but they soon discover a member of The Museum is on the ship and is planning to kill them. The rest of the book is the four discovering why they were targeted and how they get out of it. There was plenty of action, lots of inventiv ...more

3.5 stars rounded up because I liked it much more than I expected too. Clearly Deanna Raybourn's publisher decided to cash in on the success of Richard Osman's Thursday Murder Club series and the demand for mystery/adventure books featuring the more mature amongst us. And Raybourn manages to pull it off. We're treated to four 60-year-old women about to retire from a life of being professional assassins - until someone tries to assassinate them. Now the band must come together for one last job (o ...more

I haven't read a book that I have enjoyed so much since I read Darling Girl by Liz Michalski! I'm a fan of Deanna Raybourn because she writes women so well. Everytime I read one of her books. I end up laughing several times throughout the book. Read this book, you won't be sorry! ...more
