I really enjoyed this book and the time it spent on a less well-known, less recognized heroine of Greek mythology (albeit naive to a fault).

I didn’t like the ending and was expecting a more hopeful resolution, but the story is overall a pleasure.

Shelves: drama, fantasy, supernatural

I was already pretty familiar with the story of Ariadne, Theseus, and the Minotaur, and this book was an excellent retelling of the Greek myth. It started with Ariadne’s childhood, and really breathed life into the characters. The lesser characters, such as King Minos, Pasiphae, and Phaedra were fleshed out and became more prominent characters in the tale. Daedalus was also brought into the tale, not just for his creation of the Labyrinth, but also as a “friend” of the royal family, only to beco ...more
