I tried really hard to like this one, but I ultimately found it fairly dull and didn't understand the point. The Biblical re-telling was more interesting than the Russian literary plot in my opinion.

No doubt this is a brilliant satirical allegory, but I found it very hard going & didn't enjoy it much at all. I can't begin to contemplate or truly understand what the author experienced living through these times. For insight I had to turn to Kris's review - thanks Kris. ...more
