“My Name is Katniss Everdeen. Why Am I Not Dead? I Should be Dead.”
After reading Suzanne Collins’ previous books The Hunger Games and Catching Fire I wanted to check out the final book in the “Hunger Games” series called “Mocking jay” and man, was it just as intense and horrifying as the previous two books!

***SPOILER ALERT***
I stayed up late last night to finish this, the last book in the Hunger Games Trilogy. I think that makes 3/3 that I stayed up late to finish. I read through them so quickly as Collins has a knack for ending a chapter with some bombshell that you just HAVE to know more about, so you read on. And, as she is not employing flashbacks or multiple dialogues such that the chapters are actually sequential this is a recipe for devouring her books by any reader avid or not.

This is the last book in the hunger game series. Mockingjay wraps up the entire series pretty well. I think the ending became a little rushed, but otherwise I liked it a lot. I liked some of the new characters and loved having old ones come back for more in this one, like Finnick. I think the rebellion parts and the last chapters before the very last one were my favorite since they explained and tied everything up from the other books.
I have to give the author credit for an incredible, fast-moving plotline that makes this entire series addictive. However, ultimately, despite my rapid-fire reading, I felt as if the series was missing a lot. The characters were not very deep, I didn't care about the love triangle, and the ending is so pessimistic and blah that I feel as if there was no real arc or development to the stories or the characters.

A good finale to the Hunger Games trilogy. This book focuses on the rebel battle and how Peeta is treated after being taken by the capital. Katniss develops well as the mockingjay. I think the author did a really good job at depicting grief. I really liked the ending and thought it fit well with the series.
This book was so difficult to get into. I don't know if it was because it was audio and I was distracted when I was walking my dogs. Or it seemed so different from the other two. Only toward the end did it begin to make sense. Overall it was a good series. :)
