Wow - just a real heart breaker and lots of...er...heart break. Suzanne Collins certainly doesn't pull any punches here and poor Katniss has been put through he**. I use to feel bad about my protagonists...not anymore, they have it sweet in comparison. I couldn't quite go the full 5 stars because of the violence - not that I'm overly sensitive about that (they're at war after all), but it's the kids vs. kids that gets me. I also thought it was interesting that when my daughter did a book report

My response? I'm numb from all that war. I worked with refugees for years and this story has left me in the same state I used to get into after a tough day of work, jangling with a secondary PTSD -- a veryveryvery faint echo of what they experience.
So. Anyway. I'm still curled up with that and unable to catch the cleverness or plot twists or whatever. I keep trying to hold onto the last few lines of the epilogue -- the way Katniss does.
The ending felt rushed. We'd worked so hard to ...more

I can't remember the last time I read an entire book in one day. The minute I finished "Catching Fire" I picked up "Mockingjay" and started reading. While not quite as good as Catching Fire, it continues the story of Katniss, Peeta, Gale and the others in their final quest bring down the Capitol, find some sense in their lives, and for Katniss to figure out her love for these two men. In the end, it is a satisfying conclusion. You wish perhaps that there was more. Despite all that we know about

Couldn't write a review quite adequate for this series. Seems I'm still at a lost as to what to write here. Maybe I'm torn as to how I feel about the war; the deaths; the violence; the love triangle; the twist; the gladiator ways; the games; the end... I loved Peeta's character, Katniss and Finnik's also, just to mention a few. I'm still scatterbrained to write my coherent thought about this series. Can't wrap my mind around it. All I know is that I enjoyed reading all 3 books and hated it at t

I'm sad to see the trilogy end, but only because I really loved these books. As the last installment, I think Mockingjay wrapped up the story well.
For the first time, in a long time, I'm at a loss for words when it comes to a book I've just finished. It made me cry (pregnancy hormones, I'm sure!) and it made me feel empowered as a human being. The trilogy really forces us to look at ourselves as humans, to evaluate the humanity in our actions. I loved this book, maybe not as much as the first b ...more
