Sometimes books are a way to tell a story that people want to hide because they are ashamed of history.
Sarah's key is one of this books. As a granddaughter of a Holocaust survivor and lost family both from my maternal and parental side, I say thank you to Tatiana de Rosnay for writing something that people are afraid even to remember or talk.

This book was about the Vel d'Viv event in 1942 Paris, France where French police officers rounded up thousands of Jewish citizens to be sent of to various work camps and ultimately, Auschwitz. The main character researching the historical event becomes obsessed with one child that survives the chilling events and becomes very personally connected to her.

Although I had a hard time getting into this book, I did really enjoy it. The reason it was a four star book instead of a five star book was I felt the ending was a little too "perfect."
