This book was fantastic! I loved the unique world and characters and I was completely drawn in - so much that I didn't care that parts of it was written in second person POV (I'm not a big fan of this POV, but Nora made it work) and it took me most of the novel to realize it's in present tense. I was a bit confused about the timeline - not enough to stop me from reading, but I had to guess some of the sections are flashbacks, but once it clicked into place - it was amazing! Are you a fan of fantasy but tired of the same characters that all look alike and have the same old magical abilities? This book needs to be on your tbr. Jemisin gives us a very diverse set of characters and doesn't take shortcuts when it comes to world building.
