Fat Charlie lives a very dull life in London. He has a dull job, his relationship with his financee is dull, and he seems to be satisfied to live without drawing attention to himself in any way. That was the way that his father lived--in the limelight and star of every show. Fat Charlie Nancy has always been ashamed of his dad. When his dad dies Charlie discovers his dad was the god Anansi and that he has a brother, Spider, he doesn't remember. Charlie invites Spider for a visit and Spider causes trouble with Charlie's job and his fiancé Rosie. The book starts a bit slow and Charlie is rather annoying at the beginning of the book. Charlie grows and improves his character and the story definitely got more interesting as it went along. ...more

A fun book to read. Gaiman is great at quirky characters. The dialogue is simple in this one, but the story itself is full of twists and turns that are easy to follow.
