Powerful book, riveting story, must read for all.

I felt so many different emotions reading this story and really liked the main character, Star.

Many issues are brought up in this book; from race relations, social injustice to police brutality.

I was by Star's side rooting for her the entire time. ...more

I really wanted to love this book, but I fear it got great reviews because of the topic, not the delivery. I felt it dragged and some of the minor characters were flat. I liked the historical references such as Emmett Till, and Chris’s character felt more realistic.

Also, many schools (including mom) are using this book, and having a book that is sponsored by the BLM movement, a political movement, as part of a curriculum seems like it will isolate kids, not bring them together. As a choice . . ...more
