Laini Taylor never disappoints. I think very few authors can weave a story like she can - it's just the perfect blend of beautiful storytelling and complex characters. Second time through: I liked this a lot better than the first time I read it. It still had a bit of a slow start, but not too bad. And I wasn't bothered by the ending, either. I'm not sure what I disliked about it so much the first time. Not quite a five star read, but close.

First time through:
Slow start--I was actually a bit bored, waiting for it to get good. The middle was fairly interesting, but there could have been so much more besides hearing about Sarai's bottom lip for the 100th time. An ...more

A-freaking-mazing! I can't get enough of Taylor's writing. I wanted to both devour this book in an instant and also savour it. There is something about her writing that is just lush and evocative. ...more
