What Members Thought

SERIOUSLY?????
Okay, I'm going to need a few mins to recover from this book *bursts into tears*
SO SO good.
More coherent thoughts to come later.
Maybe.
Maybe this book has destroyed my mind for all other books.

Audiobook 2017:

My most favorite YA book of 2017, I was dying for this book from the reading the first 8 chapters last year after getting a copy when I met Taylor at Texas Teen Book Fest. This book did not disappoint in the slightest, and I loved that the few things I knew about this series only covered the first about 8 chapters, and then we were off into "here there be dragons" or, more aptly, "Here there be Gods, and what happens to everyone around them."

Lazlo Strange, aka Strange the Dreamer, started out in life as an orphan raised by monks and not knowing anything about his parents or even his real name. He had a wild imagination and became obsessed learning about a magical city called Weep. As he grew, so did his quest to learn more and dream daily about finding Weep. It was by chance that he became a librarian in the city of Zosma. When he began to make more discoveries in the library about Weep, he became convinced that is was a real place. ...more

This was fun and interesting until the final scenes, when it dissolved into a bad Romeo & Juliet where what if the poison hadn't worked and it turned out the kids didn't learn anything? Except that Strange doesn't have the excuse of being 15. Get over yourselves, people. ...more

I am in love with this complicated world and these beautiful and tortured characters. My heart is broken and aching to read more. I can't stand the thought of having to wait for the next book. There is so. much. happening. throughout this story. I'm truly shocked that the author was able to flesh out and develop the characters so thoroughly.

For those that have already read this, can you imagine the staggering creativity of the mind that conjured this tale? I'm in awe.

So far...the poetry of her words, every sentence, is phenomenal. I keep waiting to see if it will be too much, or too distracting, but so far its not. This author is incredible, I can already tell. More soon.
