A Pulitzer prize winning novel -- not an easy read -- nor will everyone see it as a masterpiece. I was totally conflicted in my opinions at certain stages and even in my overall feelings.
Grief is the headliner in all its various forms. It's a compelling story that sometimes felt overdone in its telling and much too long. A slow mover until the last 25% when the pace finally picks up.

This was not the easiest book to read. For much of its 771 pages there is a palpable sense of dread. Theodore Decker has every manner of tragedy thrown at him. He plays around with drugs. He gets engaged to a girl who cheats on him. And above all he has stolen a world-famous painting and doesn't know how to give it back. At times I wondered if this was a retelling of the story of Jonah. Then I thought it might be Harry Potter without the magic. In the end, it was worth the journey and every one
