2.5 - really close to 3 stars!

I have so many mixed feelings about this one because there are so many things that I liked, all the fairy tale elements and how they were used, especially, but at the same time the writing felt stiff and it didn't capture me, it built a wall between me and the story. But the writing style is not the main culprit, the pacing was weird and uneven, and I kinda wanted more from the story? But at the same time... I don't know. I have lots of mixed feelings, told you. ...more

I finished this book yesterday and I still haven't been able to start reading another book because I can't stop thinking about this one. I'm hoping writing a review will help pull its claws out of me, although I'm not sure I want its claws gone just yet, if at all. It's been almost fifteen years since I've been able to say this: I have a new Favorite Book. In fact, I've already started re-reading it.
