This was a buddy read with my GR buddy Hipnoticraqs, and the thread can be found here.

Easily 5 stars. Thank you, Ms. Green, for the recommendation of another incredible read. I only have myself to blame for having had this beauty in my TBR pile for so long.

The court politics - usually I'm bored by them, but here they worked.

The bad:
The main character is a cypher, in spite of being a first person POV.
The romance (too abrupt, and the hero's character is also a cypher.)
The ending, which felt rushed.

This was a fun YA fairytale novel in the tradition of Eastern European fairytales (i.e. Grimm). It was quite enjoyable and the female characters were smart and powerful. A refreshing read. I would love to check out other works by this author!
