I cannot believe it took me this long to get to this book. It was exquisitely written, the characters came alive on the page, and the world was so vivid that leaving felt like leaving reality. To say this is an adored new favorite would be an understatement.

Morgenstern creates more atmosphere in this one volume in ways Rowling's struggled to create with the first few volumes of the Potter series.

A great story

Well written with all the elements of a good story. Details to make it realistic without dragging the plot, likable believable characters, a little romance but not sopping with it, a little bit of intrigue, and, of course, magic. This is the first book I’ve read by Erin Morgenstern but I will look forward to reading more!

This book didn't really ever reel me in. I liked it, but I mostly finished it just to finish it. I think listening to the audiobook may have done it a disservice and perhaps if I'd just read it I would have liked it more. ...more
