I picked up this small book about a year ago because I vaguely remembered this review from Mercy’s Bookish Musings. I was looking for a short book to read in early February and picked this one off my shelves. For a book just over 200 pages long it sure does pack an emotional wallop.

The plot concerns an unnamed lady who is a death row investigator, a priest, and a prison. The narrator of the book is one of the convicts in the prison and he is in the lower part of the prison – the “dungeon” – and ...more

A powerful novel that weaves together outrageous brutality, unmentionable horror and lyrical writing. I am sure this will stay in my head for some time to come. This will challenge your thinking about death penalty, prisons and evil in humans.
