Halfway through this book, I felt sure I would only rate it 3 stars, so you can imagine how surprised I was to give it 5 stars. I have always rated books that touch my heart have to be given 5 stars. This book reduced me to tears by the last section.

I was listening to the audiobook which is masterfully narrated by the actress Reese Witherspoon.

The last section really tugs at your heart as well as being extremely difficult to listen to. As a Pacific Time Zone citizen, I usually have no patience ...more

So this was an interesting book.

I do not think it was Harper Lee's intention to ever publish it and I think she was horribly taken advantage of in her age and mental decline. But since it is out there anyway, I did read it. (For free, from the library because I don't want anyone profiting off of her exploitation).

One should only read this if they are really serious about literature and the process of writing. This is clearly NOT a sequel to To Kill A Mockingbird, but a very rough draft. It was ...more

To Kill A Mockingbird is one of my favorite books and I approached this book with caution. Unfortunately, I felt that this was a very uneven book. I liked portions of the book near the end, but I feel that the first 125 pages of the book were very uneven.
