Halfway through this book, I felt sure I would only rate it 3 stars, so you can imagine how surprised I was to give it 5 stars. I have always rated books that touch my heart have to be given 5 stars. This book reduced me to tears by the last section.

I was listening to the audiobook which is masterfully narrated by the actress Reese Witherspoon.

The last section really tugs at your heart as well as being extremely difficult to listen to. As a Pacific Time Zone citizen, I usually have no patience ...more

I'm torn with this one. Because I've taught To Kill A Mockingbird for a number of years now, I've come to know Scout and Atticus and their world quite well. So, it was it was a little unsettling to see that world -- and so many of the characters I know from TKAM -- drawn in such a different light. While I enjoyed bits and pieces overall, the ending left me completely unsatisfied and frustrated.

I don't think the sequel to "To Kill a Mockingbird" ever had a chance. Maybe that's why it wasn't published for 40+ years. I enjoyed the characters evolution, including one of the main characters, Maycomb. I enjoyed the comedy of the memories. To be disappointed in the evolution of Atticus is to be in Fantasy Fiction. That's a different section of the library. ...more
