I really enjoyed this YA dystopian sci-fi with people with superpowers. We never get into what really happened to make the world this way or where this is. Though I do get the impression that it is set in a future Europe.

The characters are not that engaging, but the situations and plot kept me turning the pages. Definitely want to read more books set in this world.

I liked this story, I really did. But I didn't love it. I think it was because the storyline felt a little too similar to a combination of a bunch of stories like: The Hunger Games, Through The Never Sky, An Ember in The Ashes, etc. I loved those stories because they were so original and stood on their own. But the Red Queen felt like a tweaked story of other good books. The writing was good enough. But I felt like the details were rushed at times and I wasn't able to get an emotional picture of ...more

I was so very pleased to pick this book up after deciding to leave off on The Scorch Trials right in the middle of itself. I very much ended up liking this book, even though I did figure out the hard, surprise twist by about 50-75% of book, because in my head there was only one big betrayal that could happen to the character that would derail where the novel had been leading.
